FLAG'S HISTORY: The French royal dynasty has flown many flags over their great country, one of the best known being the blue shield and yellow fleur-de-lis on a white background. Early in the French Revolution the French militia, which played a huge role in the country’s history, wore a cockade of blue and red (the country’s traditional colors). From Lafayette’s opinion, white, the “ancient French colour”, became the third color of the cockade making it a tricolour. This tricolour became the cockade of the national guard, which succeeded the militia. And by 1794 the edited design of the tricolour by Jacques-Louis David was adopted and has been the country’s flag to this day. I made my idea of what the french flag should look like on the left and the REAL french flag on the RIGHT.

COUNTRY'S FOUNDING: The Greeks and Gauls were the first recorded inhabitance in present day France. But in 52 BC Julius Caesar conquered the Gauls to complete his empire. For years the Gauls became very much civilized and had peace within the control of the Romans. This made France refined and pure at the fall of the roman empire and the Gauls were left with a country to build back up. King Clovis and the franks established Paris and Christianity which both became very prominent in France to this day. Louis VII’s marriage to Eleanor of Aquitaine was a huge metaphorical step toward balance and unity in France. Then we find ourselves not too many years later after the Hundred Years War, Wars of Religion, the Revolution of 1789, Napoleon’s famous rein, his defeat at Waterloo in 1815, the Restoration, and all of the napoleons that followed, and we are in present day France.

CULTURE:The French culture is like a huge boiling pot, so much diversity, as if the baker every last ingredient in the kitchen and put into one big pot. We see several regional diversities from Paris to Albi, the countryside to the city. First off, France is obviously a fine art boiling pot, beginning with philosophy; many leading philosophers have fed out of France in the European humanist tradition, some of these philosophers being Montaigne, Descartes, and Pascal. France is also home of the prestigious Academie francaise school of writing whose 40+ members have found themselves in public office or being announced at special events. The leading poet of the many great poets in 16th century France was Ronsard. He was famous for his writings about nature and love. And another famous poet after Ronsard was Lamartine, in the 19th century, who also took nature as one of his themes. French food plays an immense part in the country’s diverse culture. The French are more than passionate about making great food in its every form. The country’s wide variety of climates allow the country to grow a plethora of ingredients without importing from other countries. In understanding the significance and importance of French food comes the understanding the country its self.

--------------------CLOTHING: The French clothing designers specialize in summer and winter seasonal clothing. For the summer time styles you often see light clothing with bright --------------------warm colors worn by both adults and children alike. In the winter the clothes are obviously heavier and darker to help stay warm but also stay in style. The number --------------------one reason that French clothes have become so well liked is because French stylists are notorious for being exceedingly meticulous when making their clothing.-----------------------Some popular French lines of clothing know all across the world are Coco Channel, Christian Dior, Pierre Cardin, and Yves Saint Laurent.

--------------------HISTORICAL ENEMY SUMMARY:In my opinion one of the most historical early battles in France was the battle of Crecy. King Edward III invaded France not -------------------------knowing that his country would be head to head with France in the years to come. England came out with a victory despite being out numbered three to one and -----------------------the fight was on, they had become the best of enemies. After many bloody battles, victories going both ways, France and England found themselves head to head --------------------in the 2012 Olympics. Them, along with three other countries, had to submit to the International Olympic Committee. And at 12:49pm on July 6th, England won the --------------------bid coming up with yet another victory. Who would’ve known in 1346 that in 2012 the World would still be turning and that England and France would still be going ---------------------at it?
